Centennial Airport Supports Over 9,200 Jobs and Generates $2.4 Billion in Economic Impact, According to New Statewide Study

The Colorado Department of Transportation’s (CDOT) Division of Aeronautics has released the 2025 Colorado Aviation Economic Impact Study (CEIS), highlighting the vital role airports play in the state’s economy. The study confirms that Centennial Airport (APA), one of the nation’s busiest general aviation airports, supports over 9,200 jobs and generated $2.4 billion in total business revenue in 2023—cementing its position as a crucial economic driver for the region.

According to the study, Centennial Airport supported 9,236 jobs, with a total payroll of $769.5 million, and contributed $1.3 billion in total added value to the state’s economy. Of the total revenue generated, $2.1 billion came from on-airport business activities, while $252.1 million was driven by visitor spending. As an essential hub for aerial medical operations, aerospace research, flight training, and corporate/business activity, Centennial Airport plays a vital role in both local and statewide economic growth.

Beyond its economic impact, Centennial Airport is committed to sustainability, innovation, and community engagement—from pioneering offering unleaded AvGas in Colorado to hosting events that bring the community together. The airport operates 24/7/365, offering U.S. Customs services and serving as a base for Denver’s largest air ambulance providers, ensuring swift medical transport. The airport is also home to the Wings Over the Rockies Exploration of Flight, the Colorado Skies Academy, and various aviation-focused recreational and educational opportunities. Through the Centennial Airport Foundation and other initiatives, the airport actively supports charitable causes and its own aviation-based scholarship program.

As the gateway to the Denver South business corridor, Centennial Airport continues to evolve as an economic hub, leader in sustainability, and vital lifeline for communities across the region.
